A medium sized deciduous ornamental tree, best grown in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Bright pink buds appear in early Spring, blooming into flowers that transition from a light pink to a white. Small pea sized blackish fruit appears in Summer and attract songbirds. Fantastic Fall color with attractive bark. Ideal to use in street line planting, groupings, Informal, Cottage, Japanese, and Traditional gardens. Has a pendulous oval growth habit in youth, becoming a pendulous mounding growth habit with maturity with medium growth rate for its arching vertical growth, but a rapid growth rate for its many weeping stems.
