A low maintenance, herbaceous perennial that blooms July through August of deep purple feathery, spiked flowers that attract, hummingbirds, butterflies, and birds.The flowers sit atop compact, upright plants. Somewhat tolerant of poor soils, but prefers moist, fertile ones and generally performs better in moist soils than most other species of Liatris. Intolerant of wet soils in winter. Tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Excellent compact plant for perennial border fronts or cutting gardens.
