A herbaceous perennial with an erect, clump-forming habit and multi-colored prolific blooms of orange and yellow with brown centers from mid-Summer to early Fall. A North American native that prefers moist, well-drained soil but also tolerates drought, wet, and clay soils. Plants may be pinched or cut back in early spring to encourage branching. Remove spent flowers to encourage additional bloom. Divide clumps every three years to maintain vigor. Ideal in borders, prairies, meadows, cottage gardens, wild gardens, enmasse, or in moist soils along bodies of water. Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and makes a great cut flower. Deer resistant.
